Our trip was a bit of a nail biter due to heavy traffic as we approached Boston, but Bob, Sharon, and Joe made it to the gate on time.  Connections were good and we met Ken from Pennsylvania in Miami.

There was a downpour as we approached Port au Prince but it cleared up as we deplaned.  The Guest House van was waiting for us and we had a fascinating ride up the hill to the Guest House.  As usual many Haitian entepreneurs were selling items on the street.  The rubble from the earthquake is nearly gone from the main streets but garbage piles and brush were stacked up in many places. We saw some goats and pigs trying help with the clean up. There are still tent cities but fewer of them.  They are looking very dilapidated after 2.5 years.

A wonderful supper was waiting for us here at the Guest House.  I have a room of my own for tonight but more teams are expected later in the week.

Tomorrow we will head up a tall mountain (about 6000 ft) to see the work of our friends from Hanover, NH who have started a sewing co op in a small farming village.  I am very eager to see the mountains and valleys of Haiti.  In pictures they look very lovely.

I think we will all sleep well tonight.
